Lost and duplicate documents in Cape Town

Driving without a valid disc in the windscreen can get you fined, and you cannot sell a vehicle without its registration certificate. If yours has been lost, stolen or damaged, we apply for the duplicate for you.

When you need this

  • Your licence disc has been lost, stolen or damaged
  • You cannot find the vehicle’s registration certificate
  • You are selling the vehicle and the papers are missing

How it works

  1. 01

    Get an affidavit

A sworn affidavit from a police station explaining what happened. We send you a template of what it needs to say.

  2. 02

    Send us your documents

The affidavit, your ID and proof of address, on WhatsApp or email.

  3. 03

    We apply for the duplicate

We lodge the application and let you know when the replacement is ready.

What to have ready

Replacing a lost, stolen or damaged licence disc, registration certificate or roadworthy certificate.

  • Certified copy of your ID
  • Proof of address dated within the last 3 months
  • SAPS affidavit confirming the document was lost or stolen
  • Any remaining vehicle documentation you still have
You will need a sworn affidavit from a police station. We can send you a template of exactly what it needs to say before you go.

Drop-off is available too. We share the address once you are in touch.

Questions about lost / duplicate documents

Not easily. The buyer needs it to register the vehicle in their name, so apply for the duplicate first and the sale is not held up.
No. You need a duplicate disc, not a new licence. The licence itself is still valid until its expiry date.

Your licence expires whether you have time or not.
